About Rob Yahn — Founder & Head Coach of Fit 901

Rob Yahn, founder of Fit 901

Rob Yahn is the founder and owner of Fit 901 in Memphis, Tennessee — formerly CrossFit 901, the second CrossFit affiliate in the city. He has been coaching people toward strength and health for more than fifteen years, and training others since the early 1990s.

Rob entered the fire service in 1994 and joined the Memphis Fire Department in 1996, where he serves as a Fire Lieutenant closing out a 32-year fire-service career. He became a Firefighter Paramedic and has worked most of his career downtown and midtown on some of the busiest truck companies in the country, including Snorkel 13 and Truck 13. He drove Engine 33 at Memphis International Airport and Truck 2 downtown across from St. Jude, was promoted to Lieutenant at the Fire Training Center, and has trained and evaluated firefighters across the department.

A USA Weightlifting–certified coach and CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, Rob is also a Krav Maga instructor certified through Krav Maga Global (KMG) in Combat/Fight and Third Party Protection, having trained and certified in the United States, Europe, and Israel. That blend of emergency-service, tactical, and coaching experience shapes how he works: fitness should make real life easier, safer, and longer. He coaches everyday people, first responders, and adults from their 20s to their 70s and beyond — meeting each at their current level and coaching them to their best — with functional strength, habits-based nutrition, and life coaching built to hold up under a hard week.
