The Story Behind Fit 901

From Emergency Response to Preventing Emergencies

Fit 901 was founded by Rob Yahn, a Memphis Fire Department Fire Lieutenant and Paramedic with more than 30 years of experience responding to emergency medical calls. Over decades on the job, Rob has seen the consequences of preventable health issues up close—heart disease, diabetes emergencies, obesity-related complications, and countless crises that started with habits and choices years earlier.

His mission with Fit 901 is simple: help people in Memphis change the direction of their health before it turns into an emergency.

Rob has been involved in strength training and coaching since the late 1980s, starting in Long Beach, California. When he opened Fit 901, it became one of the earliest CrossFit affiliates in Memphis back in 2010. Over time, the gym evolved from group workouts into a complete lifestyle transformation and health optimization program focused on strength, metabolic health, and longevity.
