Train Like Lives Depend On It. Because They Do.

Grit-first strength, conditioning, and performance training for firefighters, police, medics, military, and tactical athletes in Memphis.

You’re responsible for other people’s worst days. The job doesn’t care if you’re tired, stressed, stiff, or 20 pounds heavier than you should be. When the tones drop, you have to move—fast, strong, and clear-headed. At Fit 901 in Memphis, we coach first responders, tactical athletes, and serious adults who want real capacity, not just a better mirror selfie. Concrete floors, rusty bars, chalk in the air. No neon, no influencers, no gimmicks. Just coaching, accountability, and hard work that carries over to the street, the fireground, and real life.

Goal of this page: if you’re serious and ready to train with intent, your next step is simple: start a conversation and see whether our firefighter, emergency responder, and tactical performance training is right for you.

BUILT FOR THE JOB

  • Turnouts, SCBA, stair climbs, drags, carries
  • Force-on-force, foot pursuits, defensive tactics
  • Shift work, odd hours, high stress
  • Strength, conditioning, body comp & recovery

We train Memphis-area firefighters, LEOs, medics, military, and serious applicants to handle the real demands of the job—under load, under stress, and for the long haul.

You’re Strong Enough to Get By. But You Know That’s Not Enough.

If you’re honest, you can feel the gap between what the job demands and how you’re currently showing up. Maybe it’s the extra weight around your midsection that makes bunker gear feel heavier than it used to. Maybe it’s your knees when you get up from the rig, your back after a long shift, or your lungs after one too many flights of stairs. You’re not lazy. You’re not clueless. You’re just stuck between real-world responsibilities and a body that’s quietly telling you it needs a better plan.

You want to be: - Strong enough to move people, tools, and gear without second guessing your body. - Fast and conditioned enough to work hard in full kit and still have more in the tank. - Leaner, healthier, and more resilient so the job doesn’t slowly grind you down. - Confident that you’re doing everything you reasonably can to protect your health, career, and the people depending on you. That’s the work we do here. We take serious people and give them the coaching, structure, and accountability to build real, sustainable capacity.

What This Service Is

Our firefighter, emergency responder, and tactical athlete training at Fit 901 is a coaching-driven strength and conditioning program built for real-world performance, body composition, and long-term health. It combines: - Structured, coached sessions focused on strength, power, and conditioning. - Movement patterns that carry directly over to your job and daily life. - Practical nutrition and habit coaching to support body composition and energy. - Accountability and tracking, so you’re not just "working out"—you’re progressing. You can think of it as performance-first personal training in Memphis—with the grit and simplicity of a warehouse gym and the structure of a proven program.

Why Most Gyms and Programs Fail Tactical Athletes

If you’ve tried to handle this on your own, you already know the issues: - Commercial gyms in Memphis are built for volume, not responsibility. Rows of treadmills, mirrors, and TVs—but no one watching your form, your progress, or your life outside the walls. - Random “hard” workouts from social media feel intense but don’t build a system. They ignore shift work, sleep disruption, joint history, and the demands of your actual job. - Fad diets and 30-day challenges are great at creating guilt and rebound weight—not long-term change. - Some programs are image-driven: as long as you look good in a tank top, they call it success. That’s not the standard when you have to carry another human being out of a building. The result? You work hard, but your progress is inconsistent. You’re sore in the wrong places, tired at the wrong time, and never fully confident that your training is actually working for you instead of against you.

What Makes Fit 901 Different for Firefighters, Medics, Police, and Tactical Athletes

We built Fit 901 very intentionally. No mirrors. No neon. No sales floor. Just a warehouse-style coaching environment where the focus is on work, not appearance. Here’s what that means for you:

  • Programming built around strength, power, conditioning, and longevity—not entertainment.
  • Movements that respect your joints, your history, and the realities of your job.
  • Coaching that actually coaches: cueing, scaling, progression, and honest feedback.
  • Nutrition and lifestyle guidance that fits shift work, real families, and real stress.
  • A community of adults who are here to work, not pose.

You’ll see concrete floors, rusty bars, chalk dust in the air, and people who take their training seriously. What you won’t see are ego lifts, gimmicks, or coaches trying to impress you with complexity. Our job is simple: help you become harder to kill, better at your job, and more capable in your life—for years, not weeks.

How Our Coaching Process Works

1. Conversation and assessment
We start with a simple conversation—phone or in-person—to understand your job demands, background, injuries, schedule, and goals. From there, we’ll recommend an approach and, if needed, a movement assessment before we turn up the volume. 2. Clear plan and expectations
We lay out what your first 90 days can look like: training frequency, priorities (strength, conditioning, body composition), and what we expect from you. We’ll also talk about how nutrition, sleep, and stress management fit into the picture. 3. Coached training sessions
You train in a coached environment. We teach you how to move, push, and recover well. You’ll know what you’re doing and why you’re doing it—not just “do this because it’s hard.” 4. Ongoing adjustments
Job schedule changed? Sleep wrecked? We adjust. Your plan should serve your life, not compete with it. 5. Progress reviews
We track strength, conditioning, and body composition over time so you can see real, measurable change—not just vibes.

Who This Training Is For

This program is a strong fit if you are:

  • An active firefighter, paramedic, EMT, police officer, or member of the military in the Memphis area.
  • A serious applicant preparing for fire academy, police academy, military selection, or tactical tryouts.
  • A coach, medic, or support staff whose job still demands physical readiness under stress.
  • A performance-minded adult who wants strength, conditioning, and longevity—not just aesthetics.
  • Willing to show up, follow a plan, and let coaches coach you.
  • Ready to invest time, effort, and resources in your health and performance.

You do not need to "already be in shape" to start. You do need to be honest about where you are and willing to put in consistent work.

Who This Is Not For

We’re not the right fit if you are looking for:

  • The cheapest option in town.
  • A casual drop-in gym where you can disappear in the corner.
  • Flashy equipment, mirrors, and nightclub lighting.
  • Quick fixes, shortcuts, or gimmick programs.
  • Coaching that tells you what you want to hear instead of what you need to hear.
  • A place to ignore your health while you wait for retirement to figure it out.

If you’re just price shopping, or you’re not ready to be coached, we’re probably not your place. If you’re serious about doing this right, we’d be glad to talk.

The Fit 901 Environment: No Frills. All Work.

When you walk into our space, you’ll notice what’s not there: - No mirrors lining the walls. - No neon lights. - No rows of machines designed to keep you in one fixed track. Instead, you’ll see concrete floors, rusty bars, chalk dust in the air, and tools that demand effort—barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, sleds, strongman implements, and open space. It’s a warehouse-style coaching gym built for work, not for show. The environment matters because it keeps your focus where it belongs: on the next set, the next rep, the next improvement. When you’re training for a job that doesn’t care how you look under gym lighting, that’s the only thing that makes sense.

Accountability, Habits, and Structure: The Real Leverage

Most people don’t fail because they don’t know anything about fitness. They fail because there’s no structure, no accountability, and no one looking at the whole picture. At Fit 901, we help you lock in the boring, powerful basics: - Consistent training sessions you actually show up to. - Programming that builds over months and years, not days. - Simple, sustainable nutrition principles that work in the real world. - Sleep, recovery, and stress strategies that respect shift work. We’ll talk about things like protein intake, blood sugar stability, strength training for metabolic health, and how to preserve muscle as you age. We draw from established principles (including what you’ll see in tried-and-true approaches like balanced whole-food eating, appropriate fueling, and resistance training) and translate them into a plan you can actually follow. Our job is to make it easier for you to do the right things consistently—not to overwhelm you with theory.

When Physician-Led Support Belongs in the Picture

For some adults—especially those dealing with stubborn weight, metabolic issues, or a long history of struggle—medical support can be appropriate. Fit 901 does not practice medicine. We do not diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, or decide who qualifies for any specific therapy. When it’s relevant and you’re interested, we can coordinate with licensed medical providers and physician-led teams who handle all medical decisions, including: - Whether any medication or therapy is appropriate for you. - What type, dose, and duration make sense. - How to monitor lab work, side effects, and safety over time. Our role is coaching: strength and conditioning, nutrition guidance, habit development, and accountability. Their role is medicine. When those two pieces work together, clients can have a much better chance of building a stronger, healthier body they can maintain.

If medication is ever involved—whether GLP-1 therapies or anything else—it should come from licensed medical professionals working with properly licensed U.S. pharmacies. Many products sold online are labeled “research use only,” “not for human consumption,” or come from gray or black-market sources with poor quality control. That’s not a risk worth taking. Any medical decisions belong with the physician-led team. Your training, habits, and long-term results are where we come in. And regardless of whether medication is part of your journey, it’s the consistent work in the gym and in your daily habits that ultimately moves the needle.

What Happens After You Reach Out

You don’t need a perfect plan to start. You just need to start the conversation. Here’s what you can expect when you request a call or apply for coaching:

  • We contact you within about 24 hours (often sooner) to schedule a brief call.
  • On the call, we’ll ask about your job, schedule, current training (if any), injuries, and goals.
  • If it sounds like a good fit, we’ll invite you in and walk you through what training at Fit 901 looks like.
  • We’ll be clear about pricing, expectations, and what your first 4–6 weeks will look like.
  • If it’s not a fit, we’ll tell you that directly and, if possible, point you in a better direction.

No hard sell. No pressure. Just an honest conversation to see if we can help you build the strength, conditioning, and health you’re looking for. If you’re ready to stop guessing and start training with intent, the next move is yours.

Request a Call with a Coach

Use the form below to request a call. Tell us briefly who you are, what you do, and what you’re looking for so we can come prepared to the conversation.

You can mention if you’re most interested in strength training in Memphis, tactical conditioning, transformation coaching in Memphis, or medical weight loss support in Memphis so we can route your request appropriately.

Hear from the People Who Train Here

You don’t need to take our word for it. The best way to understand what training at Fit 901 feels like is to hear directly from the people who’ve done the work. We’ve recorded in-depth client interviews—firefighters, police officers, parents, professionals, and everyday adults—talking about their experience, their results, and what surprised them along the way. You can watch and listen to their stories here: https://fit901.com/testimonials

You’ll hear about: - Stronger, leaner, more capable bodies. - Better energy on and off shift. - Fewer "mystery pains" and less dread climbing stairs or hills. - The impact of having a coach and a community who actually notice when you’re there. Results always vary based on your consistency, medical background, and life circumstances—but if you show up and follow the plan, you can expect meaningful improvement in strength, conditioning, habits, and overall health.

Client Reviews Snapshot

Across our member base, we consistently hear the same themes:

  • “Real coaching, not just someone counting reps.”
  • “I finally feel like I’m training for my job, not just exercising.”
  • “This is the first time I’ve stuck with something longer than a few weeks.”
  • “I’m stronger, leaner, and my bloodwork looks better than it has in years.”
  • “The environment is serious but supportive. No ego, no nonsense.”

If you want to know what it’s like to commit to this process, spend a few minutes with those stories. Then, if something in them sounds like the change you’re looking for, reach out and let’s talk about your next step.

Questions Tactical Athletes and First Responders Often Ask

Do I need to be in shape before I start at Fit 901?

No. You need to be honest about where you are and willing to work. We coach a wide range of ability levels—from applicants preparing for their first academy test to seasoned firefighters, medics, and officers who are rebuilding after years of wear and tear. We’ll scale movements, loads, and conditioning so you’re challenged without being reckless.

How often should I train per week?

For most first responders and tactical athletes, 3–4 structured training sessions per week is a strong starting point. The exact number depends on your schedule, recovery, and current capacity. We’ll help you find the minimum effective dose that moves you forward without burning you out on top of your shifts.

Can you work around old injuries?

In many cases, yes. We regularly work with people who have back, knee, shoulder, or other joint issues. We’ll look at what you can safely do, then build from there. In some situations, we may suggest you consult with a medical provider, physical therapist, or other licensed professional before we load certain movements. Your long-term function matters more than any single workout.

Is this like CrossFit?

We use some similar tools—barbells, kettlebells, conditioning pieces—and we believe in constantly improving strength, capacity, and movement quality. But our job is not to fit you into a label; it’s to train you for the demands of your life and work. Expect structured programming, coaching, and progression, not random “workout of the day” intensity for its own sake.

What kind of nutrition guidance do you provide?

We focus on practical, whole-food-based nutrition: enough protein to support muscle, appropriate calories for your goals, and strategies to stabilize energy and hunger around shift work. We reference principles found in well-known approaches like balanced macro patterns and whole-food eating, then customize them for your reality. If you’re working with a licensed medical team on weight management or metabolic health, we’ll coordinate your nutrition and training plan around their medical recommendations.

How is pricing structured?

Pricing depends on the level of coaching, frequency, and support you choose. We’re not the cheapest option in Memphis, and we’re not trying to be. We’re priced to deliver real coaching, not access to equipment. On our initial call, we’ll walk you through the options clearly so you can decide what makes sense for your goals and budget.
